 ''We give the Mombasa county governor a one-week ultimatum to withdraw the ban or else we demonstrate….''



In one accord, The Voice of Mombasa activists held a press conference on 19th May 2023 in protest of the Mombasa government's actions. This Happens exactly nine Days after, Mr. Patel received an official letter dully signed by Health Executive Swabah Ahmed that stated that no donation or financial support should either be sought or allowed to be given to any health facility in the county.

Charles Owino, a resident of Nyali constituency recently lost his parent in the Coast general hospital. He was shocked that he had to carry the bill load by himself since the financial help was cut off. This forced him to source for other means to pay for the expenses which strained him financially. He calls upon Sharrif Nassir to cool down and listen to the cries of the people who elected him

According to Michael Nato and other sources, the businessman pays up to a sum of 2 million shillings per day to cater for the medical bill and mortuary bills for not only residents of Mombasa County but also the coastal region as a whole He demands that they will follow a legal procedure to ensure they hold a peaceful demonstration if the directive is not withdrawn. ''We give the Mombasa county governor one-week ultimatum to withdraw the ban or else we demonstrate with ten thousand people.''

Moreover, John Walele, the Voice of Mombasa chairperson, also threatened to hold a peaceful demonstration in protest of the directive if it is not withdrawn. Furthermore, he suggested that the governor’s step of free medical services for infants at the coast general should be extended to benefit children up to 15 years old.


The Mombasa UDA chairperson Kitaka also expressed his dissatisfaction with the actions of the Mombasa governor terming it as inhuman and selfish. He calls upon the president and the deputy president to step in and help with the problem.
