Chagwamwe public participation on climate change
The residents of Changamwe in conjunction with the Mombasa county department of Water, Natural Resources, and Climate Resilience, had one on one interaction on climate change. This meeting which was held at the Changamwe social hall was attended to by representatives from all the five wards in the Changamwe sub-county.
The main agenda that were discussed at this meeting was the identification of the current effects of climate change and the possible ways to overcome and survive them.
In attendance at the meeting, was the Kipevu member of the county assembly, Lyla Nyache. She has been so elemental to Kipevu ward residents in instances of need, and this time she came by herself to support the movent. In her speech, she also made awareness of climate change and encouraged people to conserve the environment for the benefit of their future.
The participants were also grouped according to their wards where they came up with ideas to help reduce global warming and improve their environments. he ideas included planting of trees, reduced carbon produce and control drainage system and controlled littering of non biodegradable materials.
